Corvallis AYSO Progressive Play For 2010 – 2011, AYSO Region 149 Progressive Play will be an option again for those players with a desire to play a little more soccer than just the regular AYSO season and to play at a higher level of play. After tryouts and team formation, the Progressive Play teams play in a variety of tournaments from late spring and through the summer. Exactly which tournaments are up to the coaches, players, and players’ parents. Corvallis AYSO offers regular season AYSO players a chance to “tryout” for Progressive Play teams. The word “tryout” is used loosely as it is always hoped that every player who shows an interest can be placed on a team. This though is totally dependent upon the number of parents who are willing to volunteer to be coaches. The teams are formed using traditional AYSO guidelines and play under the AYSO philosophies of: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, Player Development and will be formed by 2010-2011 USSF soccer age guidelines:
For continuation into Fall play, team rosters will be realigned to match AYSO team age guidelines. REGISTRATION: The Progressive Play registration form is due back on the first day of tryouts (please bring it with you). WHEN: Tryouts will be held at Western View/Adams School Grounds for all age groups (U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15 Boys and Girls) on Sunday, April 25th, 6-7:30pm. Only if necessary will tryouts be carried over to Monday, April 26th, 6 – 7:30 pm). Please wear your current team jersey and come dressed to practice and play (shin guards, etc.). For some teams formed, the first tournament play will start with the Kidsports Memorial Day Tournament, Springfield, OR, May 22-23. The summer duration of Progressive Play season is determined by the coaches, parents and players of the team. COST: If a player accepts a position on a team, they will be asked to pay a $120 registration fee. This covers a new jersey, socks, and most, but not necessarily all, of the summer tournament fees. The $120 will be collected by the Team Treasurer after the teams are formed. For Progressive Play teams formed in the Fall, additional registration fees will be collected in the Fall, and again in the Spring to cover league and player fees. NEEDED: Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Tryout Evaluators. The only limit to the number of Progressive Play teams that will be formed is the number of parents willing to be coaches. Any volunteer willing to help with a Progressive Play team, please email John Williams prior to Friday, April 23rd. To all parents we are looking for another progressive play coordinator, if you can do the job, please email John Williams or fill out a Board Application. BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Each player needs to provide their coach with a copy of their Birth Certificate. Oregon Birth Certificates can be obtained by calling the Oregon Health Division, Office of Vital Records, (503) 731-4095, or www.VitalChek.com. |
