2009-2010 SeasonHow do I determine my child’s age division or whether he/she is old enough to play AYSO soccer? For the 2009-10 season, the following chart will determine your child’s age division: 2009-2010 Age Chart (Region 149)
Please check the information under Registration on our website for additional registration times and events. If I register my child for fall soccer and he doesn’t play, will he still be on the same team in the spring? No, if a child does not practice or play games with a team in the fall he will be taken off the roster to make room for someone who is playing. He will then need to be registered as a new player in the spring. If we decide not to play soccer in September, can I get a refund? As soon as a child is placed on a team, he or she is registered and paid for with National AYSO. Players withdrawing prior to June 15 of that year will be issued a full refund. After June 15th, refunds will only be given if a child is injured or moves out of the area. Refund requests must be in writing and sent with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to AYSO, PO Box 516, Philomath, OR 97370. What’s the board doing? Immediately after this registration, the Division Coordinators begin the process of placing new players for the upcoming season. The coaches will be notified and the Division Coordinator and the coach will contact the registered player. When do the coaches find out if they have new players? Coaches should expect to receive a call from the Division Coordinator before August 10th. Players will continue to be placed as positions become available until games begin in September. What is required to meet Scholarship Requirements? Scholarships are available to all who qualify for reduced lunch at their school. For most cases we would like a copy of the form you filled out for the school district, if you do not have the form you can just submit the form and we will look into it with the school. You are still required to submit the $10 for different administrative costs and insurance. It's August 10th and we have not heard from our coach. What do I do? Please do not panic! We will continue to assign players as positions become available and so will hold your child's registration until games begin in September. If we are unable to place your child on a team this fall, you will receive a full refund. A limited open registration will be held in the spring and we will hold your child's name on a waiting list with first choice to be placed if spaces become available. What else does my child need? The registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks) supplemental accident insurance, and field maintenance fees. You will need to supply the shin guards. In addition, you may want to obtain shoes, a soccer ball (size depends on age) and a water bottle. How often are practices and games? Teams may begin practice on or after September 8th. The practice fields are located throughout our Corvallis / Philomath community. Practices are held once or twice a week (field and times to be determined by your child’s coach). Games will be on Saturdays with the first game on September 19th, 2009. Games will be held at the fields behind Adams Elementary School. U6 Players? U6 (kindergarten) players do not practice so are not grouped by schools (practice zones). Players will arrive at least a ½ hour prior to their Saturday game to warm up with their team. Refund? Players we are unable to place will receive a full refund. Once we have placed your child on a team, NO REFUNDS will be issued. Team Meeting? The Region 149 Board will hold an all team meeting on August 11th or 12th. All players need to have at least one parent attend the meeting that corresponds to their division. More information will be posted at corvallisayso.org and in the letter mailed August 1st. If your child is added to a team after the Meetings on the 11th or 12th, you will receive information regarding practices and volunteer assignment from your child's coach and team parent. If a child does not practice or play with their team they will be taken off the roster to make room for a child who can play and they will then need to register as a new player in the spring. Please Remember……… AYSO is a parent-based volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees mistakes. Above all, enjoy the time spent watching your child! To really enjoy the game of soccer, consider becoming a referee, coach, or assistant coach. We will provide you with all the training!!
