Coach Training and Certification

Coach Training Requirements

Every coach is required to get, at a minimum, the following training/certification for the division they are coaching:

  • U5 Divisions
  • U6 Divisions
    • Safe Haven Annually (see below)
    • CDC Concussion Awareness Annually (see below)
    • U6 Coach Classroom Training (online or locally - see below)
    • U6 Coach Flier (here)
  • U8 Divisions
    • Safe Haven Annually (see below)
    • CDC Concussion Awareness Annually (see below)
    • U8 Coach & U8 Official Combined Classroom Training (locally - see below)

  • U10 Divisions
    • Safe Haven Annually (see below)
    • CDC Concussion Awareness Annually (see below)
    • U10 Coach Classroom Training (online or locally - see below)
    • U10 Field Training (locally - see below)

*Advanced Coach or greater is preferred, but not always feasible. Intermediate Coach Certifications can suffice until an opportunity is available.

When you find a course, signup in the course signup area of eAYSO under your profile.

Classes have ended, check back in January for Advanced or Intermediate Classes.

 

Every AYSO Team Manager, Coach, and Referee are required to be Safe Haven and Concussion Certified Annually*

*Annually refers to a Membership Year that starts after August 1st.
(for Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 you need to have the training done after Aug 1st 2016, not before)

 

AYSO's Safe Haven - Online Training

Training is done (here), click on the "Courses" link after you login. You will need your eAYSO ID number to login (directions are below).
Look for training link "Course MT02 - AYSO's Safe Haven" (60-70 minute course + test)
Keep a copy of the certification for your records, and double check your certifications at eAYSO.

 

AYSO CDC Concussion Awareness - Online Training

Training is done (here), click on the "Courses" link after you login. You will need your eAYSO ID number to login (directions are below).
Look for training link "AYSO CDC Concussion Awareness" (45-60 minute course + test)
Keep a copy of the certification for your records, and double check your certifications at eAYSO.

Issues (crashes or does not allow you to see the certificate)? Take a print of the completion page or take the training at http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/ and send the certificate PDF and your AYSO ID to eaysosupport@ayso.org.

 

Find your AYSO ID in your application documentation or at eAYSO. In eAYSO, after login, click on "Update Volunteer Application", and you will see the ID next to your name. You need to have filled out a volunteer registration before you can get an ID and before you can login for training.
